I had very little extra reference material to use, so I mostly went off screenshots from the movie. For the bridge, I used several shots where I matched the camera perspective as best I could and then modeled from there.

Some parts of the set are seen very little, the corner in the back there and the top of the consoles on that side just aren't all that visible in the movie.

The engine room has only a few shots in the entire movie, most of this was just done by eye.

For the lounge, there were a couple of images in the Serenity Visual Companion of the 3D CAD files they had made to design the set, I was able to match the cameras from those images and model from them.

Here's a comparison from the side in how the size of the actual set compares to how the interior would need to be configured to actually fit inside the exterior. Most sections are around 2/3 the size that they would need to be to fit.

From what I could tell, the Quantum Mechanix blueprints I'm comparing to here used the cargo hold pretty much as-is, except they scaled it up, so the real one is a bit smaller. The lounge is much different and is a weird design.

Because of how much the interior needed to be changed for the Quantum Mechanix blueprints it was mostly useless when trying to block out the interior, things were changed a lot.

Serenity/Firefly Interior

I'm working on a project where I intend to build a highly detailed model of the spaceship Serenity based on its appearance in the movie Serenity from 2005. I did an exterior model years ago but always wanted to go through and do the interior in high detail along with redoing the exterior model. The first stage of this is to block out the interior, which takes a lot of time to make sure all of the dimensions are correct. There's not a lot of supplemental reference material so I mostly had to rely on screenshots from the movie. A company called Quantum Mechanix made some blueprints a while back, but they had to make drastic changes to the interior to make things fit so those blueprints were useless for the most part.
After this I intend to do the full detail modeling and then finally do texturing and lighting. After that I'll go back to the exterior to make a better model of that part.
